Herb-Onion Batter Bread

  1. Heat oven at 375 degrees.
  2. Yield: 1 loaf.

  4. n large mixer bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt, sage, rosemary and thyme; mix well.
  5. Saute onion in butter until golden; add to flour mixture.
  6. Add water and egg.
  7. Blend at low speed until moistened; beat 3 minutes at medium speed.
  8. By hand, gradually stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
  9. Spoon into greased 2-quart casserole.
  10. Cover; let rise in warm place until light and doubled, about 1 hour.
  11. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Remove from pan; serve warm or cold.
