Heart Healthy Apple Oat Bread Recipe
- 1 1/2 c. quick cooking old fashioned oats, uncooked
- 1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoon grnd cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon grnd allspice
- 1/2 c. honey
- 1/2 c. skim lowfat milk
- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 3 egg whites
- 3 med. diced unpeeled green cooking apples (about 1 1/4 c. diced)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Spray 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch loaf pan with vegetable veg.

- In large bowl mix oats and next 4 ingredients.
- In small bowl beat honey, lowfat milk, oil and egg whites till blended; stir into flour mix just till moistened (batter will be lumpy).
- Mix in apples.
- Spoon batter proportionately into loaf pan.
- Bake 65 min or possibly till a toothpick inserted in center of bread comes out clean.
- Cold in pan 10 min.
- Remove to wire rack.
- Make 1 loaf, about 210 calories per serving.
