Pat's Bread
- 900 ml warm water
- 1 tablespoon treacle or 1 tablespoon molasses
- 12 compressed yeast cakes (crumbled) or 1 tablespoon dried yeast
- 900 g wholemeal flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Place in a bowl; water, treacle, & Yeast.
- Leave to stand for a few minutes.
- Place in a large bowl: flour & salt.
- Grease two 500g loaf tins well with butter.
- Beat liquids with a rotary beater and pour into a well in the flour.
- Mix toghether and place in tins.
- Leave in a warm place to rise and then bake about 40 minutes at 190'C.
- If you would like a coarse crunchy loaf, use coarse ground flour and add 1c kibbled wheat ro rye, leaving out about 1/2c flour.
- Other flours such as rye can be used instead of all or part wholemeal.
