Smothered Patties With Onion Au Jus
- 1 lb extra lean ground sirloin
- 18 teaspoon salt
- nonstick cooking spray
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced (4oz)
- 34 cup water
- 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 12 teaspoon instant coffee granules
- 18 teaspoon black pepper
- Shape ground sirloin into 4 patties about 1/2"-inch thick and 4"-inches in diameter.
- Sprinkle with salt.
- Place a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Lightly coat skillet with cooking spray.
- Add patties and cook 3 minutes, turn and cook 3 minutes longer or until just barely pink in center.
- Set aside on separate plate.
- Lightly coat pan with cooking spray.
- Add onions and cook 3 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently.
- Set aside with the patties.
- Add the remaining ingredients to the skillet.
- Bring to a boil and continue boiling 3 minutes or until mixture measures 1/2 cup.
- Return the patties and onions to the skillet.
- Turn patties several times to coat well and cook 1 minute longer to heat through.
