Chocolate-Hazelnut Squares
- Vegetable oil spray
- 1/2 cup hazelnuts
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- 5 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 stick plus 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 large eggs, separated
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon instant espresso powder
- 5 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- Chopped toasted hazelnuts, for garnish
- make the cake Preheat the oven to 375.
- Spray an 8-inch square baking pan.
- Line the bottom and 2 sides with parchment paper, allowing the paper to extend 1 inch beyond the pan.
