Peppermint Candy Cane Cookies Recipe

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cream together 1 c. softened shortening, 1 egg, 1 c. sifted powdered sugar, 1 1/2 tsp.
  3. peppermint extract, 1 tsp.
  4. vanilla.
  5. Add in 2 1/2 c. flour and 1/2 tsp.
  6. salt.
  7. Divide mix in half.
  8. Add in 1 tsp.
  9. red or possibly green food coloring to 1/2.
  10. Refrigerateboth halves.
  11. Twist a rope of each color together to create candy cane shape.
  12. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 9 min.
  13. Sprinkle with powdered sugar while hot.
