Peppermint Candy Cane Cookies Recipe
- 1 c. shortening, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 c. powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red or possibly green food coloring
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Cream together 1 c. softened shortening, 1 egg, 1 c. sifted powdered sugar, 1 1/2 tsp.
- peppermint extract, 1 tsp.
- vanilla.
- Add in 2 1/2 c. flour and 1/2 tsp.
- salt.
- Divide mix in half.
- Add in 1 tsp.
- red or possibly green food coloring to 1/2.
- Refrigerateboth halves.
- Twist a rope of each color together to create candy cane shape.
- Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 9 min.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar while hot.
