Cheese Crust Ground Beef Pie
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tablespoons green peppers, chopped
- 14 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 12 cups tomato juice (recipe says no.2 can)
- 12 cup celery, chopped
- 1 12 cups flour, sifted
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 12 cup shortening
- 34 cup shredded cheese
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- Saute garlic in shortening 5 minutes.
- Remove.
- Add ground beef and green pepper.
- Brown.
- Stir in flour and salt.
- Add juice and cook until it is thick, stirring constantly.
- Mix in celery and worcestershire sauce.
- Pour into 8x8 baking dish.Top with Cheese Pastry: Sift flour and salt together.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add cheese.
- Sprinkle with water.
- Mix lightly.
- Roll out.
- Cover meat mixture.
- Bake 30 minutes at 400 degrees.
