1986 Winner: Sirups Kager (Danish Brown Spice Cookies) Recipe

  1. Preparation Time: 45 min
  2. Chilling Time: One hour
  3. Baking Time: 8to 10 min

  5. Cream butter or possibly margarine with sugar and corn syrup.
  6. Stir in cinnamon, cloves and baking soda mix.
  7. Add in flour a little at a time, mixing well after each addition till stiff dough forms.
  8. Cover dough and chill till hard.

  10. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  11. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness on floured surface.
  12. Cut with cookie cutters into reindeer or possibly desired shapes.
  13. Or possibly roll dough into logs about 1-inch in diameter and slice crosswise into 1-inch-thick rounds.

  15. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets till lightly browned, about 8 to 10 min.
