Chicken And Sauerkraut (Greek) Recipe
- 4-6 chicken breasts
- 4 tbsp. butter
- Salt and pepper
- 2 med. onions, minced
- 1 c. minced celery
- 1 (28 ounce.) can Italian tomatoes
- 1 pound sauerkraut
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 lemon, sliced
- Brown skinned chicken breasts in butter in a cast iron frying pan or possibly heavy skillet, till golden on all sides.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Add in onions, celery and, after a few more min of browning, add in tomatoes.
- Rinse sauerkraut and add in to mix with slices of lemon and cinnamon sticks.
- Simmer over low heat for 1 - 1 1/2 hrs.
- Serves 4-6.
- Serve with fresh green salad and hard bread or possibly crusty Italian bread.
