Maple Custard Pie

  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. Beat eggs until frothy.
  3. Gradually beat in milk, maple syrup, and salt.
  4. Spread shortening in a thin layer over the bottom of the pie shell.
  5. Pour custard into the pie shell and place in the center of the oven.
  6. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool pie to room temperature on a wire rack.
  8. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before cutting and serving.
