Maple Custard Pie
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cup milk
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp shortening
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell
- Heat oven to 350 F.
- Beat eggs until frothy.
- Gradually beat in milk, maple syrup, and salt.
- Spread shortening in a thin layer over the bottom of the pie shell.
- Pour custard into the pie shell and place in the center of the oven.
- Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool pie to room temperature on a wire rack.
- Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before cutting and serving.
