Sherry Spiced Pears
- 8 -10 bosc pears, peeled, cored and cut into quarters
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups cooking sherry
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
- Steam the pears in a large pot until tender but not soft.
- In a medium sauce pan combine the water, sherry, sugar and spices and bring to a boil.
- Boil all the alcohol off.
- When the pears are done, let them cool then cut into bite size pieces.
- Put the pear into your choice of canning jar and then add the hot sherry sauce to just below the rim.
- Boil the full canning jars in a water bath for 12 minutes, and then cool on a rack.
