Copycat Texas Roadhouse Rolls

  1. Put the milk into a saucepan and bring just to a boil.
  2. Remove it from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  3. Mix the milk, yeast, and honey in a small bowl until well combined.
  4. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of the butter, the milk mixture, egg, and half of the flour.
  6. Mix slowly until smooth.
  7. (Use a mixer with a dough hook if you have one, otherwise it works by hand.)
  8. Gradually add the remaining half of the flour and mix until a dough has formed.
  9. Add salt, and mix/knead for 8 minutes.
  10. Then drop the dough onto a floured surface and knead for a few more minutes.
  11. Spray a large bowl with cooking spray and drop the dough inside.
  12. Cover the bowl (plastic wrap or a damp cloth works) and let it rise for an hour in a warm place.
  13. Spray 2 cookie sheets with vegetable oil.
  14. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a flat, floured surface until its about 1/2 inch thick.
  15. Fold it in half and gently seal.
  16. Cut into 24 squares of even size and place on the cookie sheets.
  17. Cover them and let them rise for about 40 minutes, until doubled in size.
  18. Preheat oven to 350 F. Once oven is hot put the pans into the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the top is a light golden brown.
  19. Brush remaining melted butter over top of the rolls.
  20. Serve with Copycat Texas Roadhouse Honey Butter.
