Marimore Cake(Yields One 8-Inch Double Layer Cake Or One 9 X 13-Inch Cake)
- 4 Tbsp. butter (heaping)
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 c. cake flour
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 4 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened baking chocolate
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 egg whites, beaten
- 1/2 c. pecans or walnuts, chopped
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg yolks; mix well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Add alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour mixture.
- Add cooled melted chocolate and vanilla. Fold in egg whites and chopped nuts. Pour into 2 greased 8-inch cake pans or one 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
