Whole Wheat Sunflower Seed Bread
- 4 cups warm water
- 4 (1/4 ounce) packages dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup sunflower seeds (whole)
- 12 cup safflower oil or 12 cup any good vegetable oil
- 34 cup honey
- 9 cups approximately whole wheat flour
- Dissolve yeast in warm water using a whisk.
- Add the rest of the ingredients--adding flour gradually till it forms a good kneading dough.
- Put on floured board and knead this for about 10-15 minutes.
- Put into a large oiled bowl.
- Rise about 1-2 hours.
- Punch down and rise again--about 1 hour or a little more.
- Divide into thirds and place in three greased bread pans.
- Rise again till doubled.
- 325 degrees for about 60 minutes.
- These will not be too brown on the bottom because of the lower temperature; if you want them browner, take them out of the pans and put them on a cookie sheet and bake another 8-10 minutes (I never have to do this because I like them the way they are).
