My Mothers Beef Brisket
- 4 pounds Beef Brisket
- 2 Tablespoons Liquid Smoke
- 1- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Crushed Bay Leaves
- 2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
- Rub the meat completely with the liquid smoke.
- Combine the salt, pepper, bay leaves, and chili powder.
- Place the meat, fat side up, in a large roasting pan and rub with the dry ingredients.
- Cover the pan lightly with foil.
- Bake for 4 hours at 325F.
- After roasting, scrape off any fat that is still on the top of the brisket and discard.
- Slice brisket thinly against the grain.
- Serve with your own BBQ sauce or smokey BBQ sauce.
