Grandma Cooks Christmas Plum Pudding Recipe
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1 c. light or possibly dark brown sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 3/4 c. sour lowfat milk (add in 1 teaspoon baking soda to sweet lowfat milk)
- 1 box muscat raisins (separate)
- 1/2 pound grnd suet
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 c. molasses
- 5 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
- Mix sugar, Large eggs and lowfat milk first.
- Put remaining ingredients in except flour and raisins.
- Add in flour gradually, stirring as you go.
- Mix well.
- Add in raisins last.
- Grease containers and sprinkle flour on (use containers which you feel will give you manageable portions.)
- Do not fill to top, leave room for expansion.
- Steam for 3 hrs (in large covered steamer).
- This pudding can be kept indefinitely in the freezer, just thaw and place in steamer and reheat.
- Can be reheated over and over.
