Fresh Tomato-Basil Sauce

  1. Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan until sizzling; add onion and garlic.
  2. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 3-4 minutes or until onion is softened.
  3. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, 2 tablespoons basil and salt; continue cooking 1-2 minute or suntil mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat to medium.
  5. Cook, stirring occasionally, 10-12 minutes or until tomatoes are softened.
  6. Remove from heat; stir in remaining basil.
  7. Spoon sauce over hot cooked linguine, angel hair (capellini) pasta or fettuccine.
  8. *Substitute 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves.
