Moonbeams

  1. Heat oven to 375
  2. In large mixer bowl combine 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar and butter.
  3. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy, 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Add egg and almond extract; continue beating until well mixed, 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Reduce speed to low.
  6. Add flour, cream of tartar and baking soda.
  7. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed, 1 to 2 minutes.
  8. Shape into 1 inch balls.
  9. Roll balls into 2 inch ropes; shape into crescents.
  10. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  11. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  12. Cookies do not brown.
  13. Cool completely.
  14. Dip half of each cookie into chocolate; sprinkle remaining half with powdered sugar.
  15. Refrigerate until set.
