Italian Meatball Sandwiches
- 1 lb ground beef, extra lean
- 34 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1 -2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 6 small hoagie rolls
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 12 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 pinch salt (to taste)
- 1 (14 ounce) jartomato and garlic pasta sauce
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a medium bowl, gently mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and egg.
- Shape into 12 meatballs, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Brush the split hoagie buns with the olive oil, and season with garlic powder and salt.
- Put buns on cookie sheet and cover with foil.
- Place in the oven during the last 5 minutes of the meatball's time, or until lightly toasted.
- Put the pasta sauce in a saucepan and warm over medium heat.
- When the meatballs are done, transfer them into the pasta sauce.
- Spoon meatballs into the warmed hoagie buns, and top with slices of provolone cheese.
- Cover with foil and return to the over for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Cool slightly and enjoy!
