Glazed Spareribs & BBQ Beans
- 4 -5 lbs spareribs (1 rack)
- 12 cup onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 12 cups ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 13 cups brown sugar, packed
- 32 ounces pork and beans
- 4 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup glaze (recipe above)
- Fill a large pot of water with water and bring to a boil.
- Add ribs and simmer until no longer pink, about 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, saute onion in oil about 5 minutes.
- Add remaining glaze ingredients.
- Bring to a boil and simmer over medium-low heat about 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Meanwhile, fry bacon until cooked, but still limp, and set aside.
- Drain off 1/3 cup of liquid from pork and beans.
- Mix beans in a saucepan with bacon, brown sugar and 1 cup of glaze.
- Simmer beans until ready to serve.
- Drain ribs and brush with glaze on both sides.
- Place on broiler or grill.
- Cook about 25 minutes, brushing with glaze and turning about every 5 minutes.
