Best Apple Pie Recipe
- 6 c. sliced apples
- 1 c. cider or possibly apple juice
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tbsp. butter
- Boil sugar and cider; add in apples.
- Cook uncovered about 8 min.
- Drain and reserve syrup.
- Syrup should equal 1 1/2 c., if not, add in more cider.
- Mix cornstarch, lemon juice and vanilla and 2 Tbsp.
- cool water.
- Stir with butter into syrup.
- Cook till thick and bubbly.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in apples.
- Line 9 inch pie plate with pastry.
- Add in apples and cover with crust.
- Sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 40 min till light brown.
