Basic Gingerbread Dough
- 250 g butter, at room temp
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup golden syrup
- 2 egg yolks
- 5 cups plain flour
- 2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 12 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- Place butter, syrup and yolks in a big bowl.
- Beat till creamy using electric mixer.
- Stir in all other ingredients.
- Using your hands bring the dough together.
- Knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
- Set aside for whatever project you have in mind - will make one house or 24 cookies !
