Masa Soup
- 1 medium onions
- 3 each garlic cloves
- 1 cup split peas
- 1/2 cup lentils
- 2 1/2 cups hibiscus leaves edible, torn into 2 inch pieces
- 1/2 cup zucchini chopped
- 1 cup carrots diced
- 1/2 cup celery diced
- 1/2 cup eggplant diced
- 3 large basil fresh
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- 1 x hot chili peppers or hot sauce
- Saute onions and garlic in water until starting to turn yellow, add all other ingredients in a large pot with 2 1/2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, simmer an hour (or until peas are tender) and then puree in a blender.
