Haring Met Uiensaus - Herring With Onion Sauce
- 4 large herring fillets
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 18 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 6 onions, peeled and sliced
- 12 cup cream
- Clean and bone herring.
- Place onions in a saucepan and cook in a little water until tender.
- Melt butter and blend in flour; add salt pepper and milk and cook, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Drain onions and add to hot sauce; add cream.
- Reheat and pour over herring.
