American Indian Slow Cook Stew Recipe
- 1/2 c. lentils rinsed
- 1/2 c. navy beans rinsed
- 2 c. minced onions
- 2 c. sliced celery
- 5 x carrots scrubbed, sliced
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. barley
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 1/4 tsp garlic pwdr
- 2 x bay leaves
- 1 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
- 1/2 c. red wine
- 1 quart V-8 vegetable juice
- 2 c. water
- Combine all ingredients in slow cooker.
- Cook for 4 to 6 hrs on HIGH heat or possibly for 8 to 10 hrs on LOW heat.
- Remove bay leaves before serving.
