South Of The Border Wontons Recipe
- 3/4 pound lean grnd beef
- 1/3 c. minced onion
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1/4 c. canned green chili peppers, rinsed, seeded & minced
- 3 tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/4 teaspoon grnd cumin
- 48 wonton skins (see recipe or possibly 48 packaged wonton skins)
- Veg. oil or possibly shortening for deep-fat frying
- Frzn avocado dip, thawed (optional)
- Taco sauce (optional)
- For filling, cook beef, minced onion and chopped garlic till meat is brown and onion is tender.
- Drain off fat.
- Stir in minced chili peppers, tomato paste and grnd cumin.
- Fill each wonton skin with some of the beef filling according to the directions.
- Fry the wontons, a few at a time, in deep warm veg.
- oil or possibly shortening (365 degrees) for 2 to 3 min or possibly till golden.
- Use a slotted spoon or possibly wire strainer to remove the wontons.
- Drain on paper toweling.
- Serve the wontons hot with avocado dip or possibly taco sauce, if you like.
- Makes 48 appetizers.
