Lazy Day or Refrigerator Pickles

  1. In a large bowl, combine cucumbers and onions.
  2. Mix well.
  3. In a large saucepan, combine all remaining ingredients except garlic.
  4. Bring to a boil.
  5. Stir to dissolve sugar.
  6. Pour hot vinegar mixture over cucumber mixture and mix well.
  7. Place one garlic clove in each hot, sterilized quart jar or half a clove in a pint jar.
  8. Immediately fill jars with cucumbers and seal.
  9. Refrigerate 24 hours to meld flavors.
  10. You can also prepare this in a crock and cover well to store in refrigerator.
  11. Unlike most pickles, these are ready in 24 hours.
  12. Store, refrigerated, up to two months.
