Meara's Marvelous Meat Loaf
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 23 cup oatmeal
- 3 eggs
- 13 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can French onion soup
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon sage
- 12 teaspoon ground pepper
- 13 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon a- 1 steak sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Mix all the meat loaf ingredients together in a large bowl.
- Place meat mixture in a 5 x 9 loaf pan.
- Bake in a 325 F oven for 75 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine sauce ingredients and mix well.
- Remove loaf from oven and turn it out into a larger, oven-proof dish.
- Make several cuts in the loaf (but do not cut all the way through.
- ).
- Using a spatula or brush, spread sauce over the scored meat loaf.
- Return sauce-covered loaf to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
