The Martini
- 3 ounces of gin
- 1/2 ounce of dry vermouth
- Green olive
- Chill a 7-ounce martini glass by filling with ice and water.
- Fill a professional bartender's glass, or a tall 16-ounce glass, two-thirds full with ice.
- Add gin and vermouth to the bartender's glass, and stir with a long-necked spoon, keeping the spoon close to the side of the glass as you swirl the ice.
- Stir until the glass frosts, about 20 seconds.
- Empty the martini glass, and strain the contents of the bartender's glass into it.
- Garnish with olive.
