Grilled Kielbasa Sandwich with Horseradish Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 teaspoon Prepared Horseradish
- 2 teaspoons Mayonnaise
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- 1 piece Kielbasa - About 4" In Length
- 2 slices Rye Bread
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil - For Grilling
- 1 slice Cheddar Cheese - Mild, Medium, Or Marbled
- Preheat indoor grill, panini press, or barbecue.
- In a separate bowl, combine mustard, horseradish, mayonnaise, and salt and pepper, to taste.
- Set aside.
- If you like your sauce extra spicy, add an additional teaspoon of horseradish.
- (This sauce recipe can easily be doubled or tripled if youre doing many sandwiches.)
- Cut kielbasa in half lengthwise and lightly brush with olive oil.
- Note that some kielbasa sausages will need to have their outer skin peeled before grilling.
- Grill for 5 to 6 minutes, turning once, until heated through.
- Kielbasa is usually smoked so it is already cooked, therefore you are just heating it through and bringing out all the flavors.
- Once kielbasa is grilled, lightly brush the rye bread with olive oil.
- Place bread on the grill until slightly toasted on each side.
- Assemble your sandwich with the toasted bread, grilled kielbasa, cheese and a liberal amount of horseradish sauce.
- Serve with a side of potato chips and a pickle.
