Easy and Satisfying Kansai-style Sukiyaki-don Rice Bowl
- 150 to 200 grams Beef (thinly sliced or cut-offs)
- 1 White part of a Japanese leek
- 1 Vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 4 tbsp Sake
- 2 servings Plain cooked rice
- 2 Fresh eggs or onsen-style poached eggs
- 1 Shichimi spice
- Wash the leek and slice into bite sizes.
- Cut the beef into bite sizes if necessary.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pot and fry the beef over medium heat.
- After the beef is cooked through, add the leek and fry quickly.
- Add the seasonings and simmer over low to medium heat.
- After the leeks have softened, turn off the heat.
- If you use fresh eggs Whisk the eggs and pour into the pot at Step 6.
- Heat through to your desired hardness.
- Transfer to individual bowls over rice.
- If you use onsen-style poached eggs Serve rice in individual bowls and top with the sukiyaki from Step 6.
- Make an indentation in the middle and drop the poached egg in the middle.
- Sprinkle with shichimi spice.
