Easy and Satisfying Kansai-style Sukiyaki-don Rice Bowl

  1. Wash the leek and slice into bite sizes.
  2. Cut the beef into bite sizes if necessary.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a pot and fry the beef over medium heat.
  4. After the beef is cooked through, add the leek and fry quickly.
  5. Add the seasonings and simmer over low to medium heat.
  6. After the leeks have softened, turn off the heat.
  7. If you use fresh eggs Whisk the eggs and pour into the pot at Step 6.
  8. Heat through to your desired hardness.
  9. Transfer to individual bowls over rice.
  10. If you use onsen-style poached eggs Serve rice in individual bowls and top with the sukiyaki from Step 6.
  11. Make an indentation in the middle and drop the poached egg in the middle.
  12. Sprinkle with shichimi spice.
