BBQ Bacon wrapped Hot Dogs
- 8 hot dogs (all beef franks)
- 8 strips bacon (not thick cut)
- 8 hot dog buns
- 1 cup Basic BBQ Sauce (recipe in my profile )
- 1 tablespoon AP BBQ Rub (recipe in my profile)
- Wrapped hot dogs with bacon and secure with wet toothpicks.
- Season with bbq rub and refrigerate until needed.
- (you can be made and refrigerated in a covered container a day in advance)
- Mix bbq sauce ingredients well and refrigerate until needed.
- Set up your grill for Indirect Heat.
- Place hot dogs on the grill over the drip pan and cook at 350F for about 30 to 40 minutes.
- Cook until the bacon is crispy.
- (you can add a handful of wet hickory wood chip to the fire for an additional smoky flavor.
- I do recommend this step but it will still be good without it).
- When the bacon is crispy glaze with a bbq sauce and cook for about 5 to 10 minutes.
- (you just want the sauce become nice and sticky so it stays on the hot dogs).
- Glazed hot dogs a 2nd x and continue cooking for another 5 to 10 minutes.
- Remove from the grill and "gently" remove all the toothpicks.
- Serve on hot dog buns with optional cheese and your favorite condiments.
- You can also serve with your favorite potato salad recipe.
