Macaroni and cheese

  1. Cook macaroni according to packet instructions and put to one side.
  2. Melt butter in pan, add flour and cook for one minute.
  3. Add milk, nutmeg and black pepper and stir constantly for about 6 minutes.
  4. Add grated cheese until melted and then add mascarpone.
  5. Add sauce and ham to macaroni and stir until thoroughly mixed.
  6. Spread mixture into baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs and grated parmesan on top.
  7. Grill under a hot grill until golden and bubbling.
  8. Based on Annabel Karmel recipe.
