Ruthey's Sloppy Joes
- 2 lbs extra lean ground sirloin (3% fat)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 fresh garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup hickory flavored barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon basil
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 12 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Brown ground beef, onion and garlic in olive oil in a deep frying pan or wok.
- While meat is browning, mix remaining ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
- When meat is browned and onions are tender, add the sauce.
- Cook over medium heat 20 to 25 minutes or until it reaches desired consistancy.
- Serve on hamburger buns or kaiser rolls.
