Banana Pops

  1. Peel bananas, and slice in half crosswise.
  2. Brush bananas with orange juice.
  3. Insert wooden skewers in cut end of bananas.
  4. Place on a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet.
  5. Freeze until firm.
  6. Combine chocolate and shortening in top of double boiler; bring water to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat to low; cook until chocolate melts.
  8. Cool slightly.
  9. Spoon chocolate evenly over frozen bananas; immediately roll coated bananas in pecans or coconut.
  10. Serve at once or wrap in plastic and freeze.
