Cheese Bennes

  1. Cream serenely cheddar cheese*, butter, salt and a chef's pinch of red pepper.
  2. Add flour and knead with gusto.
  3. Then add benne seeds and knead some more.
  4. Make five long slender rolls out of the dough.
  5. Chill the rolls in wax paper for several hours.
  6. Take out and slice the rolls into skinny nickels and dimes.
  7. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes.
  8. Keep in a tin until ready to serve with glasses of sherry cooler.
