Spiced Cheeseburger Appetizers

  1. Brown ground chuck in large skillet, until just done.
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. At a medium heat, add olive oil to skillet.
  4. Saute onions, peppers and celery, until soft.
  5. Add parsley, salt, black pepper, cumin, savory, pepper flakes, paprika, and cloves, stirring well.
  6. Add meat back into skillet with onion/spice mixture.
  7. Add water, Worcestershire and soy sauces.
  8. Mix well and bring back to a medium heat.
  9. Slice Velveeta cheese and lay on top of meat mixture.
  10. Scatter monterey jack and cheddar cheeses on top and cover.
  11. Heat mixture until cheese starts to melt.
  12. Now stir in cheese and keep heating until all cheese is melted.
  13. At this time, preheat your oven broiler.
  14. Take your bread pieces and place them on a baking sheet and broil them until toasted.
  15. Remove from oven, spoon meat mixture onto bread pieces.
  16. Top meat mixture with desired topping: cheddar cheese, seasoned bread crumbs, or nothing.
  17. Place back under broiler for a few seconds or until cheese is melted or crumbs are toasted.
