Open Faced Croque Monsieurs

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. In a small pot, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Then stir in flour until a paste forms.
  3. Cook 1 minute, then whisk in the milk.
  4. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens, 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in salt, pepper, nutmeg and 1 cup of the gruyere cheese.
  6. Remove from heat and set aside.
  7. Slice rolls in half and spread Dijon mustard over each half.
  8. Place rolls into a baking dish mustard side up.
  9. Top each with 2 slices deli ham.
  10. Pour cheese sauce over the top and sprinkle with remaining gruyere cheese.
  11. Bake 10-15 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  12. Serve.
