Open Faced Croque Monsieurs
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Flour
- 1- 1/2 cup Milk
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- 18 teaspoons Nutmeg
- 1- 1/4 cup Grated Gruyere Cheese
- 4 whole Sandwich Rolls
- 1/4 cups Dijon Mustard
- 16 slices Thinly Sliced Deli Ham
- Preheat oven to 350 F. In a small pot, melt butter over medium heat.
- Then stir in flour until a paste forms.
- Cook 1 minute, then whisk in the milk.
- Continue stirring until the sauce thickens, 5 minutes.
- Stir in salt, pepper, nutmeg and 1 cup of the gruyere cheese.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Slice rolls in half and spread Dijon mustard over each half.
- Place rolls into a baking dish mustard side up.
- Top each with 2 slices deli ham.
- Pour cheese sauce over the top and sprinkle with remaining gruyere cheese.
- Bake 10-15 minutes until hot and bubbly.
- Serve.
