Perfect Homemade Burgers
- 1/2 kg minced beef
- 1/2 onion
- 2 slice of bread (seeded is best!)
- 1 egg
- 1 dash salt
- 1 dash pepper
- 1 tsp mixed herbs
- 2 clove garlic
- Chop onions and garlic, combine with minced beef in large mixing bowl
- Slice and dice bread into tiny chunks (I usually use this as an excuse to use up the "ends" of the bread that no one likes to eat) and add to bowl
- Break the egg into the bowl, season with salt and pepper and add mixed herbs
- Using your hands, mix the concoction together until it is well blended... almost like a meaty dough
- If it is not becoming dough-like (too runny), add another slice of diced bread.
- If it is too thick, try adding a tiny amount of water
- Take a quarter of the mixture and shape it into a burger, squashing it together with your hands
- Repeat until all mixture is used up
- Shallow fry over a medium heat, turning often, until done (to taste)
- Serve with a generous salad, or fries, or a burger bun with melted cheese and drenched in Jack Daniels sauce... nom!
