Grandma's Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Beat butter and 1 cup of the sugar in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Add flour, cereal and baking powder; mix well.
  5. Pour into lightly greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
  6. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Meanwhile, mix remaining 1 cup sugar and water in small saucepan.
  8. Bring to boil on medium-high heat.
  9. Boil 5 minutes.
  10. Remove cake from oven.
  11. Immediately pour hot sugar mixture over cake.
  12. Cool cake completely in pan on wire rack.
  13. Cut into 24 squares to serve.
