Cheese and Garlic Toast
- 4 slices bread toasted
- 100 grams cheddar cheese grated
- 100 grams mozzarella cheese shredded
- 3 each garlic cloves mashed
- 300 millilitres bechamel (white) sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Make a traditional white sauce and add the mashed garlic while slowly simmering.
- Stir in the mozzarella cheese little bit at a time making sure that it is melted, add the salt and freshly grounded black pepper.
- Cut the bread in slices and toast both sides until brown.
- Place the toast in an oven dish and pour the sauce over the toast.
- Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the sauce and bake in an high preheated oven for 7 to 10 min, or until the cheddar is golden brown.
- Remove and serve immediately.
- Alternatives: Sprinkle cayenne pepper to make it spicy and hot.
- Add fried finely chopped onions to the sauce.
