Onion Rings
- 1 whole Onion, Cut Into 1/2 In Rings
- 1/2 cups Flour, Divided
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Pepper
- 1/4 teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
- 1/2 cups Buttermilk
- 1 whole Egg
- 1- 1/2 cup Potato Chips, Crushed
- 3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Prehat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Combine 1/4 cup flour, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
- In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, and 1/4 cup flour.
- Whisk until a smooth batter is formed.
- Place crushed chips into another bowl.
- Set up assembly line starting with seasoned flour, then the batter, and finish with the crushed chips.
- Dip an onion slice into each bowl consecutively.
- Repeat with all rings.
- Set them on a plate until you are ready to cook them.
- Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Drizzle with 3 tablespoons oil then pop it into the hot oven for a few minutes to preheat the pan/oil.
- Remove pan from oven and quickly place the assembled onion rings on the baking sheet, then return to the oven.
- Bake for 8 minutes then flip each ring and bake for another 8 minutes.
