Onion Rings

  1. Prehat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Combine 1/4 cup flour, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, and 1/4 cup flour.
  4. Whisk until a smooth batter is formed.
  5. Place crushed chips into another bowl.
  6. Set up assembly line starting with seasoned flour, then the batter, and finish with the crushed chips.
  7. Dip an onion slice into each bowl consecutively.
  8. Repeat with all rings.
  9. Set them on a plate until you are ready to cook them.
  10. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  11. Drizzle with 3 tablespoons oil then pop it into the hot oven for a few minutes to preheat the pan/oil.
  12. Remove pan from oven and quickly place the assembled onion rings on the baking sheet, then return to the oven.
  13. Bake for 8 minutes then flip each ring and bake for another 8 minutes.
