Beef Steak Pie With Potato Crust

  1. Heat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Cut meat into 1-inch cubes. Coat with flour.
  3. Melt shortening. Brown meat on all sides.
  4. Add onions. Cook and stir until onions are tender. Pour into ungreased 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons flour, salt, pepper, thyme and garlic salt.
  5. Pour water over mixture. Cover and bake 45 to 60 minutes until meat is tender.
  6. Increase oven temperature to 450u0b0. Arrange potatoes on meat. Sprinkle with salt and paprika.
  7. Bake, uncovered, 30 minutes.
