Soy Sauce Chicken Wings

  1. Rinse chicken wings; pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Cut off and discard tips of chicken wings.
  3. In a kettle, combine water, soy sauce, gingerroot, leek, sugar, vinegar, chili peppers, five-spice powder, and garlic.
  4. Bring to boiling.
  5. Add chicken.
  6. Return to boiling; reduce heat.
  7. Simmer, covered 20 to 25 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink.
  8. Remove chicken with a slotted spoon.
  9. Serve hot or chilled.
