Old-Fashioned
- 1/4 teaspoon Demerara sugar
- 1 orange slice
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 2 ounces bourbon or rye
- Dash of club soda (optional)
- 1 Luxardo Marasca cherry or other high-quality macerated cocktail cherry
- Place sugar, orange slice and bitters in an old-fashioned glass.
- Gently muddle until sugar has absorbed some liquid and resembles a fine paste.
- Add the bourbon or rye, along with a large ice cube or two, and stir well, about 20 times.
- Top with just slightest dash of club soda, if desired, and garnish with cherry.
