A Single Serving Okonomiyaki with Just Cabbage

  1. Chop up the cabbage into about 7 mm square pieces, or shred it finely.
  2. Pout the egg, flour, the contents of the dashi stock pack into a bowl and mix together.
  3. Add the water and mix some more.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage and mix again.
  5. Heat some oil (about 1 tablespoon) in a frying pan and cook the pancake with a lid on over medium heat for about 4 minutes.
  6. Turn the pancake over.
  7. If you find this difficult, slide the pancake onto the lid of the frying pan and turn over.
  8. Easy!
  9. Cook on the other side for 3 to 4 minutes over medium heat.
  10. No need to put the lid back on here.
  11. Finished!
  12. Try this with ponzu sauce instead of the usual okonomiyaki sauce.
  13. It will be quite light.
