A Chef's Recipe for Easy Chestnut Rice

  1. Here's the star of this dish - chestnuts!
  2. Prepare some kombu if you have some around (but it's not absolutely necessary).
  3. Peel the chestnuts!
  4. Don't give up!
  5. I recommend that you soak them in lukewarm water or cook them for 3 minutes in boiling water!
  6. Take care not to cut yourself!
  7. Rinse the rice and drain in a colander or sieve.
  8. Return the rice to the rice cooker.
  9. Add all condiments.
  10. Pour water up to the 2 cup level.
  11. Give the rice a stir, top it with kombu and chestnuts, and switch on the cooking cycle!
  12. You could also chop the chestnuts in half!
  13. Leave it alone for a while!
  14. Done!
  15. Such a tempting aroma!
  16. Portion it out into bowls and serve!
  17. Your savory, colorful chestnut rice is all done!
