Cracklin Cornbread

  1. Preheat oven to 425 .
  2. Soak cracklin's for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. (You don't have to but I like them better soft.)
  4. Put oil in pan and place in oven.
  5. Beat egg and stir in cornmeal, milk, &sugar.
  6. Remove extra water from cracklin's and fold them in.
  7. Remove pan and pour oil in bowl mix a little then pour mix in pan and place in oven.
  8. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
  9. Remove butter top of cornbread then put in oven for 5 or 10 minutes.
  10. I turn my oven off and leave it in for a while.
  11. If you need more cornmeal do so but don't forget to a a little more milk as well.
  12. Enjoy!
