Sweet & Zesty Kansas Barbecued Chicken

  1. Heat gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
  2. Combine barbecue sauce and preserves in small bowl; set aside.
  3. Combine butter, chili powder and salt in small bowl; brush chicken breasts with butter mixture.
  4. Place chicken onto grill, bone-side down.
  5. Grill 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  6. Brush both sides of chicken with sauce.
  7. Turn; continue grilling 10-15 minutes or until internal temperature reaches at least 165F and juices run clear when pierced with a fork.
  8. Oven Directions: Heat broiler.
  9. Prepare sauce and chicken with butter mixture as directed above.
  10. Place chicken on broiler pan, bone-side up.
  11. Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat 20-22 minutes or until browned.
  12. Brush chicken with 1/4 cup sauce.
  13. Turn; brush with remaining sauce.
  14. Continue broiling, brushing occasionally with sauce, 5-10 minutes or until internal temperature reaches at least 165F.
