Sourdough Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe
- 2 c. all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. sourdough starter
- Melted butter
- Sift together flour, salt and baking pwdr.
- Using a pastry blender or possibly fork, cut in butter till mix resembles cornmeal.
- Mix together buttermilk and starter with a fork, stir mix till a soft dough is formed which cleans the sides of the bowl.
- Turn out onto floured surface and knead gently for 30 seconds.
- Roll dough to create a circle 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut biscuits with round cutter.
- Place in lightly greased baking pan with sides touching.
- Brush tops with melted butter.
- Cover and let rest for 30 min.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 min.
- Makes 12 to 15 biscuits.
